Tips to achieve that Soft, Silk Skin
One of the most common skin issues is Dry Skin. It is often just a temporary or season, or you might even just get it only during winter. But for certain people, longer treatments would be necessary for their dry skin conditions.
Some causes of dry skin could be due to windy or low-humidity climates, taking too long and hot showers, over-exfoliation, harsh soaps, direct exposure to sunlight, other skin severe skin conditions, and even aging.
Here are some tips to help your skin retain its moisture and be softer and silkier:
Use moisturizer that contains sunblock or a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to help keep your skin's protective barrier healthy. Re-apply every 2 to 3 hours when in the sun, or sooner if you’re in the water or sweating. When possible, stay in the shade and wear sun-protective clothing, like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves.
Limit water exposure
Avoid taking too long shower, keep your bath and shower time less than 20 minutes and use warm and chemical-free water.
Use a gentle soap
Use fragrance-free moisturizing soap with no alcohol or allergy-causing substances (hypoallergenic soap), especially if you hand wash often. Apply a moisturizing cream while your skin is still damp.
Getting rid of dead skin cells leads to silkier skin for not more than twice a week. If you are exfoliating your face, use a gentle method so you don’t irritate your skin.
Practice a clean diet
Some research suggests that these foods also promote premature aging in the skin. Foods rich in antioxidants, like leafy greens and salmon, as well as other foods with low-fat dairy, whole grain breads, and pastas can contribute to a healthier skin.
Drink when you're thirsty
Drink non caffeinated beverages or simply water each day to help keep all your body's tissues, including your skin, well hydrated.
